Chook Me!

Should the Dixie Chicks still be banned from the radio knowing what we now know about Bush?

Taken off the radio because of one's political views is a ban, like it or not. I knew it! Republicans did not get it then and still don't get it now.

Public Comments

  1. Nope.
  2. No, they should've never been banned. Free speech doesnt apply to the DixieChicks?
  3. The dixie chicks were not and are not banned from the radio. If people want to hear it, the radio will play it.
  4. and what do "we" know about Bush
  5. As a conservative, I really couldn't care less what the Dixie Chicks think about the political environment. And with that said, they are absolutely entitled to their freedom of speech. And radio stations are entitled to not playing their music if they don't like what they promote. There is no violation thus far. Now if the Government said that radio stations shouldn't play their music and banned the sale of their CDs, maybe you'd have a valid argument. To the people below me: by denying the radio station's right to disagree, you are in turn eliminating THEIR free speech. A radio station (and music store for that matter) is perfectly within their right to rid their airwaves and shelves of the Dixie Chicks. HAHA! Keep thumbing down. Libs can't handle truth.
  6. Yes, and please arrest Rachel Ray for her terrorist connections
  7. The were never banned. However, regardless of who the president is there is no reason to disrespect our country like they did. I grant them full right to say what they did but they will not be found on my radio.
  8. The Dixie Chicks should have never been banned in the first place. They came through it though, even though a select number of idots decided that they should keep their mouths shut except for singing. They were never banned from the radio...only from certain right wing country-western radio stations. What a society we have. Radio stations have absolutely no problem playing gang-related, injury-provoking, death encouraging rap (not all rap, just the type I've specified), yet will ban another group for merely making a statement against a reigning emperor (Bush)!
  9. They never should have been banned. Many of us have always known that Bush lied to start his war against Iraq. Unfortunately the fascist corporations who own the radio stations feel the need to use censorship to prevent intelligent thought among the sheeple. Unfortunately for the DC, their style of music appeals mainly to the 25% of bottom dwelling, slack-jawed hillbillies who are still duped by Boy George and support the bloodbath he started in Iraq. If they want to resume their success they will have to change their style of music to appeal to a more intelligent audience. Free Education for Right Wing Liars: The Dixie Chicks were banned by ClearChannel Communications, Cox Radio, and Cumulus Meida, the 3 largest corporate conglemerates of radio stations in the US. Also, the following songs were banned by ClearChannel after Bush's "Trifecta Day." aka 9-11. How lucky Americans are to have corporate censors to do all of our thinking for us. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_songs_deemed_inappropriate_by_Clear_Channel_following_the_September_11%2C_2001_attacks LOL! Thanks for the thumbs down! Cons HATE reality! ROFL!
  10. Should have never been banned. How silly.
  11. They should have never been banned. Maybe in North Korea they could get banned but this is supposed to be America. We are supposed to have freedom of speech and be able to voice our opinions. When did it ever become ok to start another blacklist? That is a very dark part of our history that should have never happend.
  12. Yes...they are sponsoring terrorist attacks against Iran.
  13. Yes the @s@hoes should move to Canada
  14. <-----I say: lift the ban and let people enjoy the music, shall we?
  15. Still be? They never were banned any station that wants to can and some still do play their music. Personally I'll stick to Queen and ZZ top
  16. If you are a guy and like the Dixie Chicks you are gayer than Larry Sinclair.
  17. Well, what do "We" know about the President? You have a mouse in your pocket? Not everyone has Bush Derangement Syndrome. The chicks were free to exress what they felt. However, that doesn't mean that they are somehow immune from any criticism or backlash. And by that, country music fans were free to express how they felt about the Chick's opinions. And did so by not buying their music and telling radio stations that they didn't want to hear it. They screwed up and badly misjudged their audience. And added further fuel to the demise of their popularity by continuing to insult the fan base that made them country music stars. Hope they enjoy the limited audiences they have now.
  18. It was a corporate ban, which these days is not much different from a government ban. Thankfully we still have independent media. That ban should NEVER have occurred. Those who engaged in it have zero respect from me. In fact, the week that it happened, their song was number one. In other words, they were popular (and in my opinion very good) and they instantly became shunned for expressing their views. U.S.ians are complaining that they were lied to by the government, which is valid, but they also willingly participated. Bush wasn't 100% of the problem. The PEOPLE were complicit AND active in the problems within this country that essentially supported all the illegality committed in our name. Edit: Joe S, I agree with you, but Boy George doesn't deserve to be slandered by his namesake being attached to the evil one in office.... Edit #2: I'm ashamed that George Bush is from the United States!
  19. No, they should never be banned from the radio, were they? Ever heard of "Freedom of Speech"????
  20. I never really listened to them in the first place- but there are people who did. And, they happen to agree with me and most of the population. Their radio ban is just one of many government tricks to keep the population subdued.
