I want to lose 75 pounds within the next year, maybe a little longer....?
Is this goal realistic? To lose 75 pounds within the next 12 - 14 months? I am currently 17 years old, I weigh 260 lbs, I am 5 foot 11 to 6 feet in height. I eat 1400 Calories a day, sometimes less, and I only eat food and drink what is on this list Drinks : Water, Green Tea Food : Turkey, Chicken, Peaches, Wheat Bread, Lean Pockets, Campbells Chicken Noodle Soup, Yogurt, Chicken Wings (Skinless, not fried, raw frozen chicken out of the bag), Hot Sauce as a condiment there might be a thing or two I'm forgetting as well, but I do not eat Junk Food (Chips, Cake, Fast Food, etc.) I do not eat anything fried, I do not eat alot of carbs (Pasta, Rice, etc) And I also take a Vitamin Pill daily. And like I said I eat 1400 calories a day consisting of what I said I eat, sometimes fewer calories. For exercise, I do 30 Jumping Jacks, 30 Crunches, and an hour or so of walking, all of this is on a daily basis. So with all this said, is going from 260 lbs to 185 - 190 lbs within 12 - 14 months a reealistic goal?

- it is not unrealistic to lose that, but it might take some more effort. The eating is good and healthy, I like it. I think you need to work more exercise in. The body burns from 2000 to 2500 calories a day usually, so you will be losing calories there, but if you dont exercise alot and just sit around alot then the amount of burned calories drop. You could actually have your metabolism checked to see how many calories your body burns in a day, that would help. But what I was saying is that you should probably try doing 50 jumping jacks, 100 crunches, and try to up it to jogging, even if you can only do that for 30 minutes. The point in the exercise isn't to feel good afterwards, but instead tired and worn out.
- Green tea is great. It helps you to put weight off. I wish you good luck!
- Losing weight is simple mathematics, to maintain weight you have to burn the same amount of calories that you consume. To lose weight you have to burn more than you consume. So you should find out how many calories your having in a day and then how many your burning, dont forget to add in the calories your burning when your just sitting etc.
- Wow you sound just like me well the old me. I'm 21 years old, 5'11 and I use to weigh 260 lbs as well. In August 2007 I decided to lose weight. So far I've lost 85 pounds. I recommend you eat around 1,800 calories a day that's what I did for the first 7 months. Your goal is actually realistic and you'll most likely reach your goal soon then 12-14 months if you stick to your goal. E-mail me @ sweeet_angel1234@hotmail.com if you have anymore questions. I would love to help you succeed :-)
- I would think it would work, but you will need to step up your excercises, because 30 jumpingjacks and crunches is like 15 minutes of excercise/day. I recently bought a Gold's Gym excercise ball from Walmart (less than $10) and it comes with a workout video with several workouts. I do the routine twice a day, which comes to about 90 minutes of workout / day. So, maybe do the walking every day and a routine like I said every other day . . . Let us know how it goes :) And good luck !
- I just started Aikido in 6/1/08. If you practice Aikido for 3 times a week for a month, you can lose to over 20 pounds.
- Yes but... If you're eating 1400cals/day you're prolly throwing your body into starvation mode. You need to eat around 2000cals/day even with a sedentary lifestyle. Essentially your body will start learning to attack the muscles in your body for energy rather than fat. 75 pounds can be done, but if you would like to attack your situtation a little more aggressively, I suggest employing the help of physical trainer. It will make things so much easier for you. As far as the foods, I would stay away from lean pockets and the chicken wings. Wings are always pretty fatty and the lean pockets contains lots of uneeded carbs (bleached flour and probably high fructose corn syrup). I would add fish to your diet, some oats (not the instant kind), brown rice, cottage cheese and a helluva lot of fresh green veggies like spinache and broccoli. read the source I linked...It's a little wordy but very informative.
- I would suggest a cleansing diet. I lost 12 pounds in 9 days and then 28 pounds in less than a month. I also lost a lot of inches too! I learned that cleansing will help the body get rid of toxins. Toxins come from a lot of things like fast food, pollution, food additives and preservatives and lots of other things. The toxins get stored in the fat in our body. To get rid of the fat, we have to get rid of the toxins by cleansing the body. This made sense to me and I decided to try a cleanse program and it worked. The weight came off fast and this kept me motivated to keep going, not like other diets where the weight loss it too slow. I did Jenny Craig, Weight Watcher and Medifast. Good luck whatever you decide to do! http://diet4cleansing.com
