What is the visual difference between chicken pox and pityriasis rosea?
My 2 year old got diagnosed with pityriasis on Friday. However, my Dad is convinced its chicken pox.

- The symptoms are very different. Chicken pox starts out with a fever or flu-like symptoms. Next, a person breaks out with tiny blisters that itch and burn. Over a few days, the blisters turn red and then burst and form scabs. Pityriasis rosea starts as a bright red spot that expands into an increasing number of red spots. People may feel like they have a cold, or may have no symptoms other than spots. The red spots are usually a little itchy and slightly scaly, but they are nowhere near as uncomfortable as chicken pox.
