How long should thawed out chicken be left in the fridge?

I put some chicken in the fridge to defrost and they have been in there about 3 days. I was thinking about cooking them tonight or tomorrow, am I pushing it too close? How long should thawed out chicken be left in the fridge?

  1. cook it tonight if not then toss it
  2. umm I think a day
  3. Don't use it anymore...risk of salmonella
  4. A week or two is totally fine and edible
  5. 3 days is pushing it in my opinion. You'll soon know when you take it out and smell it. If there is any hint of a bad odor, toss it out. If there is no smell, it's probably still good.
  6. You should definately use your chicken tonight, even tonight is cutting it close. After purchasing chicken from a store you should refridgerate it at 40 degrees faranheit and use it within two days of purchasing or you should freeze it at 0 degrees farenheit at which temperature it is safe forever. Since you had it frozen I will presume that it wasn't purchased fresh, you should be safe. The two day time limmit takes into consideration how long it was refriderated at the store.
  7. know more than 3 days so if i were you i would cook it tonight because 1 more day it will be gone to the bag clean it in salt water for 20 minutes first and vinegar it gets all the blood out
  8. i would use it tonight or chuck it..not for any scientific reason, just because it seems 'bad' to leave it that long, non frozen..i wouldn't even leave fresh from the market chicken in the fridge past 3 days. although, like i said, not for any reason, just that's what my mom did so it's a habit...
