Chook Me!

Chicken owners only!... Can anyone give me advice?!?

I have 6 day old possibly fertile chicken egg. I've been to a few poultry websites to find out about incubating it. I've been keeping it a homemade incubator I made using a plastic box, towels, a heating and a small container of water for humidity. I candled the egg today and here's a description of what I saw: Its gotten darker, the faint lines that are in it are darker and a bit more pronounced and I've also seen a dark(almost black) spot on the yoke. There's also some dark lines on the edge of the yoke and the air cell on the end of the egg is somewhat bigger then it was earlier this week. This question is for chicken owners or breeders only, can anyone give me any overall advice about what I've just wrote? Also if the egg I have hatches what other signs should I look for other then when the egg gets VERY dark on the inside and it starts moving during the process? I know I can go to various poultry sites for help but right now I'm looking at other options. Also If I forgot to add this then, yes I do candle with a flashlight, also I've heard the egg feels lighter over time and it has been feeling that way lately!

  1. when the egg gets darker lines throught it it is about to hack give it abt 1-2 weeks and you should have a new baby chicken. btw keep it in a incubater it might seem wierd but i put own last one in a old microwave and then put a light bulb in it you can look on www.ebay.com.au and you can buy incubators there
  2. When your seeing this you are lanterning the egg with a flashligt right? The egg should hatch in about 1-2 weeks. When the egg becoms completly dark (exept for the air sake at the top of the egg) your chcik should hatch any day. Good luck with your chick! They are a lot of responsibility!!!!
  3. when it hatches make sure you teach the baby how to eat and drink 2 days after it hatches.cool to see another chicken breeder.
  4. put a thermometer to check and maintain the temperature around 100F and change egg's sides time by time(3 to 4 times a day), so it doesnt heat up on one side. and there is no need to scrutnize the egg for details very often, you just have to wait 20 to 21 days and chick would be in this world for the next, lets say, 13 to 14 years.
