Chook Me!

Shall I use a wooden or metal chicken coop for my hens?

I have a old steel chicken coop in my garden. Should I leave it like that or cover all the insides with wood to make it nicer?

  1. I would use the metal chicken wire since this would stand up longer than the wood fences.
  2. Metal gets too hot for keeping chickens, a wooden building is better.
  3. It doesnt matter as long as you have a safe area. Easter or. If you add wood it wouldnt be as hard as wire. As long as there safe fro reditors thats all that maters
  4. Non 0f the answerers are chicken shrinks, so better ask your hens-after you teach them to talk-or ask Marty Stouffer, or Chicken George-Bush.
  5. IF it were me I would put the wood on the inside. It helps to keep the temperature in the hen house/coop more tolerable in heat or cold. I built my henhouse and after I put up the outer walls I put in the inner walls and it is wonderful winter or summer. I have a large door on the South side of that hen house so I can go in and gather eggs. That same door has a screen door on the inside so I can leave that door open in good weather. On the East side of the building I have the small door that I can close anytime I want so the chickens can come and go.
