Help with chicken casserole?

I want to make a chicken/ veggie casserole for dinner tonight. I wanted to add either noodles or potatoes to it as well, should the potatoes or noodles be pre cooked? Or can I mix it all together and it will bake in the oven?

  1. They should be pre cooked.
  2. yes you should per cook to aldente
  3. I would precook the potatoes, because they tend to take a long time. You can let noodles cook in the casserole but be sure to use enough liquid in there. If you have chicken and vegetables you could make a tasty chicken pot pie too. That's even better. All you need to do is make a nice pie crust for the top.
  4. To ensure success, I would pre-cook the potatoes or noodles. There are recipes that call for uncooked noodles but you often have to increase the liquid and cook the casserole covered. Unless you're in the mood to experiment, I would pre-cook. Crystal
  5. I would pre-cook either one. The potatoes especially to an almost done state. Depending on the noodles, they may get done added uncooked if they are thin and there is plenty of liquid.
  6. Use frozen egg noodles, otherwise regular boxed pasta, you will have to cook first. For potatoes, steam them through in the microwave if you are just cutting up the real deal, or buy frozen southern hash browns, already diced and through them in the casserole frozen, they will cook through fine.
