Chook Me!

I have Six ducks how can i keep them in the winter.?

I have 6 pekin ducks and was kind of trying to keep them instead of killing them. At least i would like to keep 4 of them. How ever i was told that they wont make it. I am a little worried about the fact that the water would freeze on them and they would not get to play in the water for at least 3 months. how do you keep ducks without having water for them to swim in? the building i have is a small chicken coop in a dog pen that I put my chickens and ducks in at night. they dont use the coop though. only the chickens do! is there anyway to keep ducks without water in the winter? My ducks cant fly so they would not make it south. I have 6 pekin ducks and was kind of trying to keep them instead of killing them. At least i would like to keep 4 of them. 1. Yea you cant and you dont have to kill them just let them fly south so they will survive because odds are unless you find out how to keep it warm outside in december you'll have to trust them to come back in spring
  2. Yeah, make them their own coop if they don't like the chicken's one. Put a heat lamp in there to keep them warm. They will not fly south. Pekins are domestic ducks, not wild ones. They need to you care for them over the winter.
