  1. First off,I would not hatch out only one as chicks need the companionship of others to help keep them warm, keep them calm and help them with their social skills as they are a social animal. You can go to Tractor Supply(even online) and you can order an incubator. If you just get the warmer, you will need to turn your eggs twice a day until the last 2 days of the incubation period. It is at this time the chick is positioning itself for hatching and to move it during the last 2 day of incubation could cause the chick to get confused and possibly cause it not hatch as it won't be able to find it's way out. Getting the turner that goes with this warmer is really an extra unnecessary expense esp if you are willing to turn the eggs twice a day. I don't recommend trying to buy an incubator off of eBay as I had a friend to do this verses going and buying one at Tractor Supply and he ended up spending the same amount of money but out of two batches of eggs he didn't even get half of his eggs to hatch. . . I think he got a faulty used incubator and I don't think it is warming properly BUT I think you can go on eBay and purchase fertile eggs or so I have heard. Though it is too late for hens to be sitting on eggs and hatching out chicks,I still see my rooster busy doing his rooster thing which I can only assume goes on year round so I know alot of my eggs are probably fertile so find someone in your area that has a rooster and some hens and I would bet you can find some fertile eggs. There's way too much to tell you in one conversation about hatching cchicks, raising them etc so if you wish to IM me,you can do that by going through my profile.
