what is incubators used for in laboratories?

1. To maintain a bacterial culture at a particular temperature for a set length of time, in order to measure bacterial growth
2. They are set to temperatures where bacteria grow. So basically what the guy above me said.
3. They hold samples at a constant temperature of your choice, for growth of cells of various sorts, including the bacteria mentioned above, or for performing chemical reactions like enzyme assays or nucleic acid hybridizations.
