Chook Me!

Can you substitute coke or any soda instead of beer in beer chicken?

  1. You could, but it will completely change the taste of your recipe. Ginger Ale might make a better substitute. Just remember that it contains sugar... I don't know what your recipe is for.
  2. you could if you wanted sweet, nasty, sticky chicken. cooking chicken in beer removes all the alcohol. if you cant get beer than just go to a restraunt or just cook regular chicken.
  3. yes but then it wouldn't be beer chicken it'd be coke chicken
  4. First, no. Soda and beer share no ingredients other than water, so replacing beer with soda makes no sense. If the alcohol is the problem, remember that the alcohol will cook out as the chicken does. If that still worries you, get a non-alcoholic beer. It has the same ingredients (generally) as regular beer, but without alcohol.
