Dixie chicks fans: What is the song "top of the world about"? ?

I love this song, but can't really figure out what it means. Please no one be stupid and bash the band.

  1. it's about family relationships and not making the same mistakes that your mother did, it's about a father that has regrets. it's about caring for your aged parents as well.i found the video very sad to watch and really long.when she says about breaking the wings of an innocent bird she means a child because if you don't love and encourage them they can never reach their full potential-ergo- fly to the top of the world.
  2. i found this web page that can help, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Top_of_the_World_(Dixie_Chicks_song)
  3. LOVE the Dixie Chicks, that's a great question!
  4. Not too sure what it's about. I've seen the video and it looks like there's some old guy who morphs in and out of being old and young. Kinda like that Benjamin Button. Anyhow, I think it's a good tune and was written by Patty Griffin who also sings a version of it on her album Impossible Dream. Check it out.
  5. That song is about regret--all the regrets you have for the things you didn't do in life when you could. The broken wings of the songbird is about the singer having regrets about not doing it so she broke her own wings because she didn't try to fly when she could-- when she was on top of the world she didn't take the chance.
