How long does it take for chicken pox to develop?
Hi, I have got approx 30 spots that have appeared on my arms in the last 3-4 days. I'm not sure if this is chicken pox as I am not covered in them. Does anyone know how long it takes for them to develop?

- Chickenpox has a 10-21 day incubation period. EDIT: it doesnt sound like chicken pox to me, if it were chicken pox, in 3-4 days you would be covered in spots from head to toe, including your face and body. A chicken pox looks like a small red dot which develops over a matter of hours into a blister which then pops and scabs over. they are a little itchy and irritant. my children woke in the morning with no spots and by the following day were covered.
- It usually starts with a cough about a week before the spots appear. Not all spots appear at once and will continue to develop for a couple of days. They will be itchy and you might feel achy and tired. If it is chickenpox you will be contagious til the spots scab over.
