- If all you have is one hen and one rooster, that will cut down on your cost of building a chicken coop, especially if you plan to eat the eggs. You can also save money by going on Craigslist and looking through the "free" category. In a short period of time you might find most of what you need being given away. Good luck! I don't think you need to bring them in. They are birds. Birds live outdoors year around.
- You can find any of this around your house or at stores. You need a big enuff coop for them to move about, 2 square feet per chicken. It should be safe, have chciken wire or long, wide thin plywood around the coop so that coons, cyotes, fox cant get them. They need to have a roof from weather and flying preditors like harks and owls. Inside needs access to feed and water and a nest box so they can lay eggs in it. They need a roose, a long wooden rod accross hte coop off the ground, they sleep up huigh cause they feel safe. Depending on how old it is, if it is 3 months or younger it needs to come inside. Older ones should be fine, put a doghouse with extra straw in it and incluse a heat lamp is necissary.
