This may sound like a weird question, but how do you get rid of that certain poultry smell when you're cooking
…poultry? If you know what I’m talking about, it’s not the kind of appetizing smell that comes from food cooking, but that certain “poultry smell,” especially when you’re not using any seasoning. And normally, the smell is more pungent with turkeys than with chicken. I guess I could cover that smell by using a lot of seasoning, but many times, I prefer just salt and pepper on the meat. Does anyone know how to get rid of this smell?

- that unfortunately is the smell of chicken without seasoning. i know what you're talking about but whenever I make chicken, i either do a chicken parm, chicken marsala, or a pasta with chicken, garlic, red peppers, spinach and capers. so i put lots of stuff in it. i get annoyed at chicken smell and taste with no flavor.
- add some cinamon and lemon. u dont need to put a lot so it wont affect the taste much but it removes the smell
- First off, you have to wash the chicken with lime juice (or lemon juice). The acid gets rid of that raw smell. Once you're done washing it with the lemon/lime juice, you can season it and cook it however you want. Also, anything that you used to handle the raw chicken must be washed with lemon (or lime) juice also. This gets rid of that raw smell, helps with raw chicken germs, and leaves behind a nice citrus smell in your kitchen. . . . . AND why the heck aren't you seasoning your food properly?!?! (...sorry I just had to get that out...)
- I also feel same like you . I do not like the smell from the poultry also. So this is the suggestion for me : 1. Always buy a really fresh meat . 2. I usually not use the skins from the poultry , since the skins have a lot of fat . 3. I notice , the smell come from the fat , so i throw away the fat . It's also healthy . ( the really fats from poultry is thigh ) 4. Wash the poultry . 5. I always use ginger , and sometimes i add lime juice ( not to much ) if i fry or baked . You can add any seasoning is depend of your recipe . 6. Remember always clean your hand and utility after use for poultry with soup . Enjoy your cooking ... !! ( poultry is good because they are one of a white meat )
