How a hen deliver egg in modern poultry?

Does she require cock for delivering the modern poultry egg?

  1. Cockrels aren't required for egg production, just as men aren't needed to make women produce eggs. The male involvement concerns fertilization. Eggs get laid whether they've been fertilized or not.
  2. Hens will lay eggs regardless of whether a cockerel (rooster) is around or not. She will just keep moving on laying eggs, but they will be unfertilized. If the hen has had intercourse with a rooster, then she will lay fertilized eggs that will eventually hatch into chicks.
