When will the chicks of my mother hen get independent or on their own?

The eggs the mother hen is sitting hatched 17 days after she starts sitting on it. Now 5 weeks and 5 days has passed since the hen is Raising her chicks.How long does it take since hatching period before the Hen leave her chicks.Im from the Philippines

  1. They will remain with the mother hen as long as they want to. Eventually they will go off on their own but for the most part housed together then have the rest of their lives LOL!
  2. About now. When the hen starts to lay more eggs she will kill her own chicks unless... They are given a place where they can get out of harms way, so the mother hen and Rooster cannot reach them. Or separate them completely and keep them safe from wind or drafts or rain.
  3. You could have actually seperated the chicks from the hen as soon as they were dry! Chicks are not dependent on a hen for anything. Go to murraymcmurray.com- they have a tutorial on how to take care of chicks.
