Ihave a chicken coop/pen made of wood 10'x13'. what do we use to disinfect coop, very messy have 1 dayold chic

i have a chicken coop/pen made of wood 10'x13'. the coop had previously had chickens in it,but are now gone. I have got new 1 day old chicks (bantams).What would i use to disinfect the coop from mold and poop?i used a pressure washer, but should i use a chemical or something like bleach?

  1. yes! get a bleach-water solution and spray it on the walls and floor. Let it dry totally before you put the chicks back in, though. Here's the easiest way to manage a coop: put a tarp down on the floor and cover it with wood shavings. They absorb so much, help the smell, and need to be cleaned out less than straw. (WAY less) When it's cleaning time just grab the tarp, haul the wood-burrito out and dump it. It's so easy! good luck :)
  2. Hi, After power washing the shed, use a disinfectant on all parts. Do this at least a week before putting any birds in. The day before you put the chicks in, dust everywhere with a redmite powder.
