Why do people praise George Jones yet bash the Dixie Chicks?

George Jones: Wife beater,alcoholic,drug addict Dixie Chicks: Used their constitutional right of freedom of speech then the same people who love George Jones ran them out of town.Why would AMERICANS give a wife beater the time of day to be heard again and run a band out of town for simply exercising their right to free speech?

1. Generally people buy CDs and go to concerts for the music not for lectures about politics.
2. The Chicks asked people to take them out of their cd cases.They did! They got their wish..
3. Dixie Chicks decided that they were better than their fans. They dissed their fans along with all Americans!!! It really had nothing to do with what they said about the president but what they said about America AND their fans. Calling them hicks etc They were good singers and didn't have to diss other people...other artists...their fans...etc They got what they deserved. Lost revenue...lost husbands...etc
4. Why do you judge people in Country Music for their personal life? You asked this question before and George Jones has a voice that transcends time. I listen to music , for the MUSIC.
5. George Jones was a real countryman, born in a cowtown, thus he really is a country singer. Now... the Dixie Chicks, one was born in Lubbock, Texas (210,000 pop), York, Pennsylvania, (40,000 pop) and York, Pennsylvania (pop 45,793) how the h*ll do they even know what the country is?? Next, Dixie chicks just sing whiney songs where George Jones sings about is papa's beer. Lastly... George Jones came out with the most popular country song of all time (He stopped loving her today). The Dixie Chicks can't even make it on the charts. I don't like the Dixie Chicks, they don't know country nor will they ever make it back on the charts.
6. Because wife beating, alcohol abuse and drug abuse are not about how the president is going to spend tax money. People are a lot crazier where money is concerned. The people who liked Bush put down the Dixie Chicks because their opinions were different and if they don't agree with one opinion they are bound to bash it.

The Dixie Chicks are not good enough to be mentioned in the same topic as George Jones.I have followed George's career since he started in country music and I never heard anything about him beating his wife,or being a drug addict. He drank but who doesn't occasionally?I bet you have been known to belt down a few yourself. If you hate George Jones so bad, how come you are in the country section? You should go to the teeny boppers section and tell about your love for Taylor Swift.
9. the chicks are a lot more "modern"...appeal to different genre's. the chicks have irked some conservatives for speaking up. george is a "good ole boy" country artist (most people don't know about the wife beating thing whereas the chicks turmoil was front page news). i guess who gets bashed and who gets praised depends on who you talk to. truth is they are all sitting pretty and have few worries so i would'nt trouble yourself over it! moo.
