Girl's Night Dinner?

The girls are comming over Saturday for a girls night and I am making dinner. It's to thank them for being such awesome bridesmaids. So far for the dinner I have a yummy chicken/stove top stuffing/mix veggie casserole which rocks the house, and for dessert I am making cupcakes. Besides making biscuits to go with the dinner should I serve apptizers of some sort or is what I have enough?

  1. An appetizer would be nice because it would give you more time to relax and enjoy their company before dinner.
  2. You should have something to pick at when the arrive. I would suggest fresh vegies: celery. carrots, broccoli, cauliflour, red bell peppers, cucumbers, scallions, all cut in easy to eat, finger food sizes. Prepare a dip of 2/3 c. sour cream, 1/3 c. mayo., 1/4 tsp. garlic powder or salt, 1/2 tsp. dried dill weed, a squeeze of lemon juice and black pepper and salt to taste. Allow to sit in fridge a few hours before serving. Always a hit at our parties...and healthy.
  3. I can come over and fix my speacialty "tube steak smotherd in underwear"( just kidding) good luck :)
  4. For appetizers, try something with salsa involved (chips, veggies). That is always a party pleaser!
  5. Try this dip recipe - you can set it out with Nacho chips before dinner and the girls can sit around with a drink and chat before the meal. mix 250ml of sour cream with a 250g package of cream cheese. blend until smooth. spread this mixture over a large plate or serving tray. spread some salsa on top of this, sprinkle with some chopped green pepper and top with some grated mozzarella cheese. keep refridgerated until needed. serve with nacho chips.
  6. but to be honest, appetizers with such a heavy meal don't make sense. you're better off concentrating your efforts on a kick-behind dessert and getting some great cocktails together for the girls. skip champagne, as they'll have plenty at the wedding. try 'vodka still works,' southern tea (iced tea + southern comfort) or porch lemonade (lemonade + soco + cherry vodka). have fun!!
  7. Have some chips and dips = popcorn and mixed nuts ... can't do the veggie tray thing as you are having mixed veggies at supper. You have a wonderful supper planned = don't want them too full so don't make the snackies TOO good... teehee SEW
  8. I would add a dinner salad or predinner salad. something simple but yummy. Making a little make your own salad bar would be fun.
  9. I think it sounds like waaaaay more than enough. I would have a salad on the side just for the extra but other than that..I think you can stop now.
