Chook Me!

I'm cooking chicken wings tonight and they were in a big bag frozen. Now that they are thaw can I refreeze 'em

The bag of wings are so big and I don't want to cook all of them and I want to refreeze them but I don't know if I can.

  1. Its a pretty bad idea to freeze and thaw and refreeze food.. Why not cook them all up and just have leftovers for a few days..
  2. If it hasn't been thawed all the way then you can take a part of and then refreeze all the rest other wise it is not recommended to refreeze any kind of meat
  3. Look at this document and read what the USDA says...
  4. cook 'em all freeze what you don't serve
  5. you cant refreeze meat, just leave it in the fridge, itll be fine for a few days before you want to cook the rest of it
  6. no.. especially with chicken so u will have to cook them all.
  7. You can refreeze them if they still have some ice crystals in them. If they are totally warm you cannot refreeze them and you should cook them all immediately because the bad germs have had a chance to multiply and could make you sick if you put them back in the freezer and eat them some time later.
  8. No, its not a good idea to try and refreeze meat.
  9. You need to cook them before you can re-freeze them. Just boil them or bake them, and next time you want wings it will be that much faster.
  10. i really wouldn't re-freeze them but u might wanna cook em' all and save the rest for a later night in the week or refrigerate them and cook them in the next couple of days.
  11. Cook them all and refreeze what you do not eat.
  12. if they thawed under refridgeration and did not sit on your counter all day then it is perfectly fine to refreeze them. you may lose some quality from doing this however. If you "de thaw" arn't you freezing? Just a question
  13. I(f you continuously freeze and refreeze food you not only dehydrate the meat, but also increase the probability of germs each time you do so. As a general rule of thumb - once you de-thaw meat it is best to cook it all. In the case of chicken wings - cook them up and make chicken salad or something, at least you won't have to waste them...
