Do male turkeys help care for their chicks?

I realize that male turkeys are polygamous (unlike the other 95% of bird species), but it stands to reason that they would still care for the chicks with each of his mates. Is this true?

  1. More or less he will simply blend in. Turkeys are not birds who need help eating from their parents like hand fed domestic birds do. Turkeys much like chickens will follow each other around looking for food. The only problem I see is when his sons get older and they fight over girls LOL!
  2. not the tom in my neighborhood, once he breeds he heads out to another section of his range and we don't see him again until next winter.
