Should you count your chicks before or after they are hatched?

When does life begin for a chicken? At conception? At birth? Doesn't a chick inside an egg count as a chick? Do chicks inside eggs have feelings? Do they really count? Should we count them before they are hatched? Or wait until after?

1. If they are counted before they hatched than I have to tell you that the liquid chicken omelet I had for breakfast was awesome.
2. I would wait till they hatched becasue they are out the egg and have a greater chance of surviving sorta this is like and abotion qu. like when is it classifide as a baby
