Chook Me!

Why are chicken wings larger than they were?

I buy bags of frozen chicken wings to prepare at home. Over the past year, the size of the wings has gotten larger. So big that no one likes them anymore. I know I'm not crazy, does anyone know why this is and where to get the good-old scrawny wings? And these wings are injected with "15%...crap"

  1. Well they have been hitting the steroids on the chickens hard. They think that the more chicken meat you have on a chicken the more you will get. You can probably find some old scrawnhy wings at your local grocery store and look for organic or free range chicken, as an american you have the right to know what was put into the chicken.
  2. The chickens are not only pumped up with steroids, but they are also often injected with water to make them weigh more. Look for organic chicken whenever possible.
  3. That is right. Hormones and antibiotics are being given to all the animals we consume. The animals are growing a lot faster. It is very bad because the antibiotics they consume, we consume so we are building up a resistance to it!! Scary stuff! They also use chlorine to clean them. Seriously, like swimming pool chlorine!! It is affecting the health of our baby boys (autism, I believe is hugely environmental) Our daughters are going through puberty at a much quicker rate too. Which in the future will lead to higher rates of breast cancer for them etc...Maybe you could check with a butcher shop in your area??
