Chook Me!

I'm sick of chicken wings cooked in the oven. Suggestions?

I'm sick of chicken wings baked in the oven in a roast pan all wet & saucy when you eat them. Any suggestions on another way of cooking/baking/frying them?

  1. Flour & fry em!. Wash & dry with paper towel, roll in seasoned flour(I use self rising flour, the batter is better!) then dip them in a beaten egg mixed with1/4 cup of water seasoned with salt, pepper, paprika & garlic powde. Then roll in the flour again. Let them set for an hour to harden the flour. Then deep fry in peanut oil on medium high or about 375 for 4 minutes per side. Drain. Let the oil get hot again before you put more chicken in. YUM!!!
  2. I part boil mine, then i deep fry them. The part boiling keeps them from drying out when you fry them. This is also how I do it in my restaurant.
  3. Grill them under direst heat so the skin gets nice and crispy. I often just have salt sprinkled on them first. Deep fry and drain well.
  4. I would make a good stock with them and serve chicken noodle soup.
  5. Flour them up in seasoned flour and then fry them in a frying pan and drain. Add 1 stick of butter and enough hot sauce to your liking and coat them and enjoy. Frank's is a good choice for hot sauce. Make sure you oil is hot enough by inserting the end of a wooden spoon in it. If it bubbles around the end of the wooden spoon the oil is ready for you to start dropping in the wings after you ave coated them in flour.
  6. Rub olive oil over them and then season with lemon pepper, or montreal chicken seasoning. Cook outdoors on the grill or on an indoor grill pan. You can use spicy jerk chicken seasonings also. You are only limited by your tastes.
  7. If you live in an area (The South) where you can buy Hush Puppy Mix, shake them in the dry mix and deep fry.THE BEST !
  8. Try buying some Texas Pete buffalo wing sauce and bake them that way-finger licking good.
  9. boil and then coat in seasoning and fry
  10. Use your favorite chicken breading recipe.Double the seasoning. You can even make Cajun ones using of coarse Cajun seasoning. Then deep fry.We never bake then....... Toss with hot sauce and plenty of butter mixed in.Place in oven to dry sauce a little on a very high temperature....or under broiler...but don't burn them. ;)
  11. If you're good at knowing when it's done without needing a meat thermometer ( I still need a meat thermometer when it comes to certain things), you can try cooking it in a skillet, with very minimum oil on bottom of skillet, and when done, pour over some hot Prego, or your fave spaghetti sauce. Once you're done cooking the chicken, before adding sauce, melt a slice of mozzarella cheese on the chicken. Do you have Shake'N'Bake in Canada. I love that stuff, especially the BBQ kind. But either way, I recommend using boneless chicken. Happy alternative! :-)
