Chook Me!

How would you make this work? (see description)?

This is my Technology brief for this year's project: Design and make a door for a chicken coop which will automatically open during the day and close at night. I know to use an LDR for the day/night part, and a motor with PTB switches to open and close the door, but I don't know how to make the motor re-activate when the LDR resistance changes... any ideas?

  1. Are you limited to how many components this project will require? You might consider using a switching transistor(2N2222A) to activate a relay for your switches. Possibly a 555 timer to adjust the motor ON time duration to open or close the door. I say a switching transistor because you can adjust the bias to correlate with the threshold of the LDR between light and dark.
