Chook Me!

Help! Need dinner ideas!?

Ugh, I can't think of what to make for dinner tonight and there won't be time to go to the store. I'm only cooking for two adults. I have: Rice Eggs Instant mashed potato mix Flour Sugar Frozen veggies (corn, green beans, and peas) Canned yams Ground beef (1lbs) 2 pork chops (boneless) Tofu Spaghetti noodles and lasagna noodles Then I have different seasons/toppings: Mustard Mayo Sour cream salt pepper cinnamon ground thyme paprika ketchup Cream of mushroom/chicken Chicken broth butter oil and a few other seasoning (cumin, nutmeg, etc) If its not on this list, I don't have it and I simply don't have time to get it. Isn't it fun when you're so busy and then all of a sudden you realize you have no idea what to make? I want to avoid a casserole, so anything else would be great! Thank you!

  1. U can make a chicken noodles soup & some garlic bread with cheese http://andaluss.wordpress.com/2008/09/25/chicken-noodles-soup/
  2. Make an American Shephards Pie brown ground beef with diced onion, salt, pepper, oregano, and garlic powder, or use fresh garlic. make mashed potatoes as directed on package heat mixed vegetables in microwave for 5 minutes. in a casserole dish, spray with pam, or coat with oil a thin layer, about 1/2 inch deep mashed potatoes meat shredded cheese mixed vegetables mashed potatoes and sprinkle with cheese bake 350 for about 30 minutes.
  3. Pork fried rice. Cook up some rice in the normal way, slice the pork chops thin and brown the slices. Make scrambled eggs, but leave them a little juicy. Heat up your wok or a large skillet, add some oil, add the rice, pork, a little mustard, whatever seasonings appeal to you (if soy sauce is among them, that would be excellent!) and stir briskly for a couple minutes. Then add frozen peas, and corn if you like. When the veggies are hot, add in the scrambled eggs and sort of chop them up as you mix them in. As soon as everything's hot and fully cooked, serve it up.
  4. If it were me I would use the cream mushroom soup and burger, make it in to hamburger gravy, serve it over the rice or potatoes with one of the veggies. Doesn't sound spectacular I know, but sometime ya gotta just make due! Good Luck!
  5. Mock Swedish Meatballs with Spaghetti Noodles Season ground beef with salt, pepper, and garlic (if you have it), add one egg and 1/2 cup of instant mashed potatoes, mix well using your hands. Shape into meatballs and bake until done at 375F. Meanwhile, heat the cream of mushroom soup, add 1/2 cup of sour cream and simmer. Boil spaghetti noodles, then drain. Mix soup mixture with meatballs, toss with spaghetti. Serve steamed green beans on the side.
  6. Make a poor man's beef stroganoff. Brown ground meat and drain. Cook lasagna noodles as directed. Drain noodles and cut width way. (as to resemble egg noodles) heat cream of mushroom soup (without water). Add the Browned ground meat and pour over noodles. You can use the rice instead of the noodles. Serve with peas and Mashed potatoes. My family has grown up eating this for many years when my mother was on a budget. 40 years later my siblings and I make this all the time.
  7. "Weirdfis" took my pork fried rice answer (thumbs up) YUMMY lol!!! You could add egg drop soup to that, bring the chicken broth to a boil, beat the eggs, stir the broth and slowly pour the egg in. Delicious, even better with a little green onion on top, but really good without it too.
  8. Try FRIED RICE: Ingredients (serves 4) 1 cup long grain white rice 2 eggs 2 teaspoons oil Ground Beef 1/2 cup frozen peas, thawed 1 cup of other frozen vegetables 1 tablespoon soy sauce, plus extra to serve (OR use any herbs you have in the cupboard such as paprika etc instead or terriakyi sauce.) Tofu (optional) Method: Cook the rice in a large saucepan of boiling water for 12 minutes or until tender. Drain and leave to cool. Using a whisk, lightly beat eggs in a small bowl. Heat oil in non-stick wok or large frying pan over medium heat. Add eggs. Swirl over base to form an omelette. Cook 2 minutes. Turn over. Cook 2 minutes until set. Transfer to a chopping board. Set aside to cool slightly. Cut into short strips. Add beef to wok/saucepan. Cook 4 minutes until light golden. Add vegetables. Stir fry 1 minute. Add peas and rice. Cook, stirring, 3-4 minutes. Add egg + tofu (optional) and soy sauce. Stir until heated through. Serve immediately, with extra soy. PASTA WITH MUSHROOMS Ingredients (serves 2) 215 g mushrooms 8 garlic cloves, unpeeled 1/4 cup grated parmesan 30g unsalted butter 50ml oil 300ml sour cream 200g pasta 2 tbs thyme or basil Method: Place half the mushrooms in a small bowl and the garlic cloves in a separate small bowl. Pour 1/2 cup of boiling water over each and leave for 15 minutes to soak. Meanwhile, place remaining mushrooms in a food processor with the parmesan and process to combine. Transfer to a bowl and set aside. Drain the water from the garlic and pop the cloves out of their skins. Discard the skins. Heat the butter and olive oil in a frying pan over low heat until the butter has melted. Add the garlic cloves and cook, covered, for 10 minutes until golden and soft. Add the remaining mushrooms and cook for 1-2 minutes, then add the pasta and their liquid. Cook until all the liquid has been absorbed. Add the cream and allow to simmer gently. Cook the pasta in a saucepan of boiling salted water following packet directions or until al dente. Drain, then toss with the mushroom mixture. Stir in the thyme or basil and serve in bowls. BEEF WITH VEGETABLES - Just grill the beaf in a saucepan with any sauces that you can find that will go with beef. then use the potato mash and also steam up all the vegetables you have. i would suggest making a sour cream and mustard dressing my just combinbing the ingredients in a sauce pan with garlic or onion until thick. good luck!
  9. Grilled (broiled) pork chops, with a little salt and pepper. (pineapple pieces or apple sauce would be nice if you have any) Instant potatoes combined with green peas made into patties, fried. Steamed corn and yams. Fried eggs.
  10. Wow, you have a lot of choices. Divide the ground beef in half and make 2 burger patties. Freeze the remaining ground beef. Fry the burgers and serve them with a packet of brown gravy and those mashed potatoes. Side dish: peas.
