do u guys know of any poultry farms around the poukeepsie area in new york?

we want between 4- 6 more chicks for our farm and we dont want old chickens or sites that we have to order more than what we want

  1. Your best bet is going to be to look for a small, local farmer who might have something for sale. Most hatcheries don't sell in quantities under 10 or 25 because of the mortality rate of young chicks. You could go to your local feed store and ask there - most small stores know their customers and can put the word out for you. You might be able to find sale ads hanging in there also. My poultry sales are strictly from shows and by word of mouth, and I sold about 100 birds last year without advertising. We just finished the week at fair, and sold nearly every bird my son brought to show. If you have a local county fair going on, head over there and meet some breeders. You can also contact your local county extension office and get in touch with families involved in 4-H. They often have several birds or small broods of chicks for sale. Hope this helps!
