Blue buffalo Puppy Chicken & Brown Rice Recipe?

I am planning on changing my puppy's food because I was tricked into buying nutro , which I heard is poor quality food. So i was wondering if Puppy Chicken & Brown Rice Recipe from blue buffalo (which i heard that blue buffalo is high quality dog/puppy food.) But since my puppy is a small breed (chihuahua mix) do you think this will be the right puppy food? Thank you so much:)!

  1. I always read Blue Buffalo being recommended on here (more than nutro) In all honesty I was not impressed with BB's quality..seems like a commercial brand and i'm wary of those..but i could be wrong i never used it. I think Wellness, Taste of the Wild, Innova, Nature's Variety and Chicken Soup for Dogs, are much better choices esp for small breed. BB has alot of unnecessary ingredients since small breeds eat so little as it is i don't think they need fruit in a dog food. just my opinion though. i think BB needs more meat ingredients.
  2. Blue Buffalo is WAY better then Nutro, but there are better foods out there. I can give you a list if you would like. On this website, Blue Buffalo rates about a 4 out of 6 stars. http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/dog_food_reviews/index.php So there are better foods out there.
  3. First of all, is that your dog as you avatar? So cute! Anyways, I used to feed my shih tzu puppy Royal Canin (I also made a mistake of feeding him that). I recently found out that RC contains to much by-products and fillers. Personally, I believe that Innova is a high quality food that's good for our small breeds; my puppy is a shih tzu. I bought Innova Dry Puppy food on saturday, and have been mixing it with his old food. So far, so good! His stool is not soft, and he doesn't have any gas. Also, he loves it! He chows it down, he ate the RC too, but my point is, even if I changed his diet, he still didn't mind. :) You should take a look at this... http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/dog_food_reviews/showcat.php?cat=3&stype=1&si=puppy&perpage=12&sort=8&stype=&limit=&cat=3&ppuser= The 5 star quality food, I believe, is the best for our little babies. The 6 star quality contain too much protein. I recommend feeding your puppy Merrick Puppy Plate, Wellness Just for Puppy (though it contains fillers such as rice bran and tomato pomace), or *Innova Dry puppy food. Good luck sweety! I hope I helped! Here is my little angle btw... http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f348/kyootemonaman/babykyOki.jpg http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f348/kyootemonaman/ky0kibaby.jpg
  4. Blue buffalo is a high quality dog food. Nutro does make a good quality food, its called natural choice. Learn what the ingredients on the dog food bag mean. This is the best way to determine if the food you are feeding is good. Stay away from things like corn which is hard for dogs to digest and it speeds up the digestive system which means they do not absorb the nutrients in their food. You also want to stay away from things that just say animal..like animal fat or animal meat/ meal the reason why is b/c when it says animal it is not a consisted animal..it could chicken this time and beef the next. Depending on what you believe... Based on the research I have done I believe dogs are omnivores and not carnivores... this can also play a role it what will be considered the right food for your dog. High quality grains are things like oatmeal, barley, wheat.
  5. I feed my Goldendoodle and Yorkie Blue Buffalo and have been for about a year now. My Goldendoodle is allergic to wheat and soy, and this is what was recommended by several people. I constantly get complimented on how their coats are so silky and the little amount of waste they have (which is a good thing because they are getting the most out of their food). My best friend has a 7-month-old Yorkie who she also feeds Blue Buffalo after several different kinds. She also swears by it.
