Information about Thermostat changes for incubating Duck eggs?

i have had a lot of experience in hatching indian runner duck eggs i have hatched 26 of them. i have always done it in a homemade incubator but recently bought a thermostat plus, i have noticed it go down to 90 degrees F in 10 Min's before it heats up again. Does anyone know if this will kill them???? thanks

  1. Running temps too high is more dangerous than going a little low for a small time. At 90 degrees F more than likely they just stopped developing during that time if the eggs had time to cool to that temp. Just bump it back up and they should be fine. I listed the below website as it is a very good place to find info on incubating and keeping birds in general. Don't be afraid by it being a chicken site as a great deal of users have ducks, pea fowl, quail, pheasants, and some other types of fowl. I learned a great deal from these kind folks. If the thermostat is fluctuating temperatures wildly it is defective and should be replaced as it will decrease hatch rates.
  2. i would say yes it would kill them. take it back to the manurfactorer
