Chook Me!

How long does it take for chicken pox to clear?

3 days ago I went to the doctor and found out I have chicken pox! I am 16 years old and I have my winter formal next Saturday. Does anyone know how long they will take to clear up?

  1. It usually takes 7 to 10 days to clear. Within 24 hours it starts to change into crust but make sure not to scratch any, it will scar your skin forever. I had chicken pox when I was 7, I'm 47 and still have a scar on my forehead. My mother had told me not to scratch but I did. It is highly contagious so try to stay away from people who never had it or pregnant women. It's very dangerous for the baby. If you've been in contact with a pregnant woman, suggest that she goes to see her doctor. It happened to me with my third pregnancy and the doctor took a blood test right away because they can do something to protect the baby if taken on time. In my case I was lucky, there was no harm done to the baby.
