MICROWAVE CHICKEN: Is there a simple way to micro a frozen chicken breast?
I am on a restricted diet. I can have skinless chicken breast with seasonings. I used to bake them in the oven but currently don't have an oven. This is my first micro so I'm not sure about what to cook in (glass, ceramic, plastic?). I'm looking for a simple, tasty recipe.

- warning: delicious Microwave It can be risky cooking chicken in the microwave oven because the oven cooks unevenly. The same piece of chicken can be several different temperatures at the same time! If you have healthy people over the age of 5 in your household, this is an easy method for microwaving chicken. Place boneless, skinless chicken breasts in a glass dish with the thin side of the breasts in the center. Pour 3/4 cup cup buttermilk over the chicken, sprinkle with herbs and spices of your choice, cover plate with plastic wrap, and cook on high for 3 minutes. Check the chicken, then cook for 2 minutes longer. Rearrange the chicken using tongs, cover again, and microwave for 3-5 minutes longer until internal temp is 160 degrees F. Discard buttermilk mixture.
- i dont think you can cook chicken in a microwave, safely. You could cook in in a Toaster Oven, but if you insist to use the microwave, cook in a GLASS container only. It will be hot so be careful :) OR.... Buy one of those portalbe Stove top things......a hot plate.. http://www.germes-online.com/direct/dbimage/50196812/Hot_Plate.jpg Walmart has them for about 20-30 dollars To cook with this : Put a skillet on the hot plate with a spoonfull of olive oil Place the seasoned breast in the pan cook on one side for about 5 minutes on med heat turn over on other side for 5 miniutes as well
- Paper plates 2 and add napkins in between (clean up) can you reduce the power In your M/W??? try 30% 8 min.then experiment. If not try 10 sec then 15 sec,, check the heat level till you get to 60 ,,do not go past 60 min you may end up with jerky or dog biscuits
- Some microwave ovens have a frozen/cook programme, but you will need to see the user manual to see if yours has that feature.
- First of all, do not cook it frozen. Thaw it out first. That takes a couple hours or shorter (run in under cold water). Then, while it is thawing, I would buy a toaster oven. They are inexpensive but much better to cook in. Microwaves just cook stuff like chicken and beef weird. It heats unevenly, parts get "rubbery" and others uncooked. With beef, it is not that big of deal since some people eat it raw. But chicken! It has to be FULLY cooked so you do not get salmanella or something. Toaster oven will cook it like in a real oven. Good luck though. Just keep in mind your heath and the safety of cooking chicken in to the micro. Good luck. Also, again, for best taste, never cook meat frozen. Always thaw it out first.
- I use my microwave for everything! It's so easy! 1st thaw out the chicken (there should be a button that says poultry). press that button, then press time (about 5 mins for (1) chicken breast. once it is thawed; rince it off & put in a deeper dish, put any seasoning on that you like. You can experiment with a lot of flavors. I like to put spagetti sauce on the chicken & mozarella cheese.Cook this on medium power until there is no pink in the thickest part of the chicken. Make a salad , heat up a vegtable & you have a nice dinner in less than 30 mins. If you like mexican food do the same thing; but use picante sauce & taco cheese, heat up some rice & instant dinner. You can make desserts this easy also. Happy experimenting!!
