What's the best way to cook chicken wings in the oven with a teriyaki sauce?

I know the best way to cook chicken wings is on the grill, but at the moment it's not possible. Do I cook them first and then put the sauce on? Do I cook it the same way I cook chicken breasts or thighs? Help, please.

  1. Here is what I used to do when I made them at work. We would toss them with sauce then bake them and then add more sauce before serving them. That was for the regualr wings, the ones that were breaded we flash fried to get the breading to stick, then finished them off in the oven and then tossed them with sauce before serving.
  2. here ya go, just follow this recipe 2 tsp. soy sauce 2 tsp. dry sherry 12 chicken wings 3-1/2 Tbs. teriyaki sauce 1 large clove garlic, pressed 1-1/4 tsp. sesame seeds, toasted, optional aluminum foil Preheat oven to 425°F. Combine first 2 ingredients in bowl. Add chicken and mix to coat all pieces well. Arrange chicken in a single layer on rack in large foil-lined baking pan. Bake 30 minutes. Combine teriyaki and garlic in a bowl. Brush half of mixture over chicken. Turn over and brush with remaining mixture. Bake 15 minutes longer or until tender. Sprinkle with sesame seeds, if desired.
  3. TERIYAKI CHICKEN WINGS 3 1/2 lbs. chicken wings (about 20) 1/2 c. catsup 1/4 c. dry white wine 1/4 c. soy sauce 2 tbsp. sugar 1 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. ground ginger 1 clove garlic, crushed Cut 1/2-inch tip off each wing; discard. Separate wings at joint. Place chicken in ungreased dish (13 x 9). Mix remaining ingredients and pour on chicken. Cover and refrigerate at least 1 hour. Heat oven to 375 degrees. Remove chicken from baking dish, but save the marinating sauce. Bake on rack in foil-lined pan for 30 minutes. Brush with sauce ad bake another 30-40 minutes.
  4. According to the book "How to Cook Everything" It is best to cook the wings half way thru before putting the sauce on.
  5. I would baste/marinae the wings in some sauce before, during, and after cooking...but I looove teriyaki!!!
