how big should my chicken coop be if i'm getting 26 chickens?

im a first time chicken-keeper and im not sure how big it should be im thinking about 16 by 12, but im not sure. Help me?

1. That's plenty of space. Get a good reference book about chickens. I like "Storey's Guide to Raising Poultry". It has everything you need to know to be successful including plans for chicken coops.
2. If they will be out during the day, that size should be fine. If they are to be kept inside all the time, you need one square yard of floor space per bird.
