breast feeding in public?

I'm a women and have issues with this. I was in Bakers (a shoe store) in the mall about 2 weeks ago. Here I am minding my own business checking out the new styles of shoes and as i turn around..... BLAAAO boober just flapping in the wind in the middle of the store with no towel or blanket covering as she adjust the kid in her arms to BLAAO expose the other breast...now there's two fully's in the middle of shoe store. At first I'm looking around to see if i'm not really at spring break in Mexico and i'm just that f*cked that i'm hallcinating that i'm on my lunch break in the mall shopping for shoes. But as i came to the realization that there are no "girls gone wild" dudes standing around with camera's and she wasn't just some drunk college chick i became uncomfortable and quite scandalized by boobers flapping in mall wind. now i find out the Jolie is on the cover W breatfeeding her child. seriously ppl....if i don't find it acceptable for young, hot, perky, college chicks to be baring their breasts in public....i sure as hell don't find it acceptable nor do i want to see a 30 something, post pregnancy, veining boobers with a kid hanging on the nipple. If anyone finds it offensive what i just wrote...imagin viewing it. Anyone agree with me here? i use the word "boobers" and such to make it an amusing story rather than me complaining...even though i am...but it's makes it more amusing using funnier words. Has nothing to do with my lack of maturity. As for being natural...i agree with the other person who wrote: "so is going to the bathroom" but i don't want to see someone urine or deficate. Breast are a taboo in our society and culture...that's just the way it is...so use some descretion when feeding your child. There are public restrooms now with that have waiting areas for that particular purpose. If i walked through a ladies lounge attached to the ladies restroom and saw that same situation i would have thought nothing of it...well maybe the fact she has both of them popping out...but when i'm shoe shopping i really don't want to see a lady feeding her child...no matter how beautiful or natural it is. Period.

1. I think woman should have the right to breast feed in public but with descretion! If they don't have something to COMPLETELY cover up...do it in the bathroom!

3. It's natural, nothing to freak out about. As long as the person is comfortable with it, it's not wrong. So you saw some girl's tits because she was breast feeding, what's the big deal?
4. i am in total agreement here. it is entirely inappropriate for women to breastfeed in public. i know theres a big to do about it, but pump before you go out or have a little class and excuse yourself to the bathroom or the car.
5. I'm a mother who breastfed for a while, and even I have to agree with you. Actually I don't mind when women breastfeed in public, but there is absolutely no reason why your knockers need to be hanging out. I've seen several women do this in public but very modestly, and you almost never know she's actually feeding her baby. I think it's completely inappropriate and inconsiderate for a woman to do this -- just pop them out and don't even attempt to cover. If you accidentally were to show something, fine, just cover up. But to do what you described -- I've never seen that before. It's just gross. I know breastfeeding is natural and all, but have some decency and consideration.

9. I agree with you, I never ever flashed people when I was breastfeeding my baby. She should and could have feed the baby with out giving you a free show. I have a story that tops yours. I was shopping at a garden center and a woman was walking around with a large baby and breastfeeding him. I thought that's just nice, I make sure to feed my kid BEFORE I leave my house and here she is walking around with her business hanging out.
10. I think women's breastfeeding in public is fine. Really we get to see more flesh against our will with the tiny skirts and low cut tops so many women are wearing these days. I am absolutely fine with seeing another womans breasts (no matter what shape) 'flop out' as she feeds her child. I am not absolutely fine with being forced to see right into another womans nether regions because she has a skirt on that is too short!! Never mind the Breast Brigade hon, 'girls gone wild' are all over the street, cameras or not, just take a look around at what some of our fellow women are wearing!!! But please, try not to look for too long...it's not a pleasant view!! xx
11. I disagree. I think it's fine. especially if the child is an infant. I get uncomfortable seeing large toddlers breastfeed in public but it's still a mothers right to do so.

While on one hand I definitely see your point and she could have used a little discretion and covered up with a blanket or something, there's something fundamentally wrong with what you're saying. Basically, breastfeeding is not sexual. You're bringing in all this stuff about Girls Gone Wild and how you don't want to see this woman's "ugly" breasts, but guess what? That's not even what it was about. She was freaking feeding her child. Traditionally, the reason Americans have had trouble with public nudity is that we associate it with sexuality. I'm not even going to comment on the problems with that, but I will say that it's a problem that we've so sexualized breasts (not to say that they DON'T have a sexual purpose) that we can't even look at them for their original, non-sexual function, which is to feed a child, without thinking of whether they're attractive and inappropriate or whatever. See what I'm saying?
13. It's freakin' gross to me too. One time this lady was breastfeeding out in public not covered up at all. I only noticed when I looked up made eye contact accidental and apparently had a shocked/taken aback look on my face. She had the nerve to give me the evil eye! Her boob was just hanging out there how was I supposed to be not shocked. For all those that say it's natural, that's fine but so is going to the bathroom and I don't want to see that done in public either!
14. She probably figured you seen boobs before and you wouldn't get upset, I'm sure if there was a man around she would have covered up. That kind of thing never happens to me, I like the way you told the story though BLAAO that's funny.

I think its ok to breast feed in public, but they make those little coverups for a reason and some of them are so cute..LOL. but i do agree that she shouldnt just expose her bare breasts for everyone to see especially the one that is not being "used" but all in all breast feeding is a beautiful thing but not when your boobs are all over the place.

17. Women do that for ATTENTION and for NO other reason, there is NO excuse to have the girls hanging in the wind for everyone to ogle and NO ONE wants to see them in the first place! Ladies, if you breastfeed, for Heaven's sake cover the girls!!! No one wants to look at your private details, believe me.
18. wow! I totally do not agree with you! Breastfeeding is the absolute best! I don't care how fat or ugly and hot and skinny a person is! Any woman should have the right to breastfeed their child in public and advertise it as well!! What is more natural than that women breastfeeding her child with her body looking like that...There is no women that has a perfect body when they are breastfeeding their child!!
