How do you BBQ Chicken on the Grill without leaving the center raw?
I've tried this before...only once, and I screwed it up. The outside was really good and cooked, but the inside was raw. Not sure what I did wrong, but that was my first attempt at BBQ'ing chicken. How do you do it? What's your special recipe? Thank you for sharing.

- you just have to cook it longer. before you serve it, cut into the middle of a piece to make sure its not pink
- 1) Don't put the bbq sauce on at the start 2) Cook with indirect heat and the top down 3) Put the sauce on and cook on direct heat for the last 5 minutes or so 4) Use an instant read thermometer and cook until the center of breasts hit 150 degrees and dark meat hits 160-165 degrees
- I par boil the chicken to get it started, then toss it on the grill to finish cooking. Baste with the bbq sauce and heat it a little longer.
- Well what I do is brown in on the grill and then bake it til it's done all the way, then put the bbq sauce on it and cook for a few more mins until the sauce gets thick.
- Chicken is probably the hardest thing to cook on the BBQ grill. Sometimes, the outside gets burned before the inside gets done cooking. You must cook over medium heat, not high, and baste often to seal in the juices. I just keep basting with Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce (found in grocery) and turning often so the grilled side doesn't char. BBQ chicken is the best!
- Cook it on a low heat (about 300 degrees). If you're cooking it in the oven,it's done when the juices run clear. If you're cooking it on a grill, you just have to watch it and keep turning it. If the bone's in, then it's going to take a little longer to cook.I find that it takes about an hour to an 1 1/2 hours to cook depending on the size. Don't put the BBQ sauce on until the chicken is almost done or the outside will burn since BBQ sauce has a lot of sugar in it.
- Just boil it first for about 20 minutes before grilling. Comes out great!
- the way i do mine is by putting the chicken over a can of gingerale or beer (beer but chicken) and set the bbq to about 300 degrees and leave it for about 45 minutes occasionally basting it with beer or a lil gingerale...turns out so tender and juicy every time!
- I season mine, and bake it at a high temp for 20 min then put it on the grill. I don't put the sauce on it till it's done, then I sauce it and cook for only a few min longer.
- Yes I'm one of those who pre-cook it by either baking or par boiling it. Then onto indirect heat til you're close. Then sauce and higher heat. Voila. Grilled BBQ chicken!
- precook the chicken
- I do it all the time. I use lower heat and turn the chicken often. I also use a meat thermometer to tell if the internal temp has reached 180F. I use skinned, no bones, chicken breasts.
