what chickens do best in Texas and also lay at least 1 egg a day. ?
We moved from the city nd are now in the Texas hill country and are planning on getting chickens. We aren't going to get a rooster but we still want chickens that will lay one or more eggs every day. We want chickens that can stand weather that will get up to the ninety's in the summer, and below freezing in the winter. Please help cause we have already started on the coop. Thanks!!!

- The best way to have chickens that are going to do well in a certain climate ,is to check with area farmers and purchase chickens that are already adapted to the weather . If you want layers ,look for some leghorns they lay white eggs or red sexlinks they lay brown eggs. Both types lay year round and if you get a dozen or so you should collect at least 3 or 4 eggs on the worst day ,after they get settled in.
