Minute Rice...to cook or not to cook..that is the question..?
Im making a chicken broccoli casserole. If Im using minute rice then I can put the rice in the casserole uncooked right? How long will it take to cook properly you think? Im using a bag of frozen broccoli, cooked chicken, can of cream of chicken, cup of water, and a cup of the rice. (plus some garlic, onions, and salt and pepper of course) I would prefer to let the rice cook in the casserole as compared to cooking before hand because I believe the rice will have more flavor this way.. the recipe does not say how long to cook if your using minute rice. So is regular rice better than minute rice ...?

- Minute rice will cook in the casserole. In fact, the recipe probably says uncooked rice. Just cook it the length of time you'd normally cook it
- Minute rice is not rice; it's pasta. Seriously. Regular rice would take about 20 minutes to cook. Pasta takes less than half that time. So, you definitely don't have to pre-cook the minute rice. Since you're not boiling the minute rice, just throw all the ingredients together and bake for about 25 minutes.
- I would just use the sae as normal rice.
- I always add uncooked long-grain rice and it comes out fine. It's 45 mins with uncooked chicken. Since you're using cooked chicken- you just want it to heat all the way through. Cover with foil and 20 mins should be good.
