Chook Me!

Can I grill chicken slices and freeze them?

I am going on a diet and alot of the receipies require grilled chicken... wells ometimes I dont have time to open up a package and grill it you know! So is there anyway I can grill it then freeze it with out it going bad or tasting funny? Also I know they sale the ones that are already ready to just heat and serve, but they season it really nasty. thanks

  1. you can do that no problem just make sure you wrap them very tightly in plastic wrap to keep the air out so you don't get freezer burn cause that never tastes good!
  2. Yes. Season as you like. Just cool them immediately in the fridge. Then package in a vac pack or in baggies with as much air removed as possible. These will keep in baggies well for about a month.Vac pack a lot longer. You could even include some precooked veggies (cook on the light side though) in the package too. Cut open the package, place on a plate in the microwave and dinner is ready in 2 minutes. This encourages you to eat your veggies :)
  3. If you grill it, and then freeze it in an airtight container with no extra space in the container you should be fine. Get all the excess air out of the ziplock bag before you seal it. Otherwise, your chicken may get freezer burn.
  4. cooked chicken freezes really well make sure it is cooled before wrapping it and putting it in the freezer
