I have lots of questions about chickens.?
So I got this shed, and it is very well built, 4x8. This is without nesting boxes and roosts. How many chickens can I fit in there? Also... in such a small area, I need good ideas for roosts. How many do i need for the amount of chickens i can get in there, as well as nesting boxes. And my friend has a chicken coop, and his roost is just above this box of dirt, so when they roost, all the poop goes into the box and becomes composted, which they throw all over the garden. Are there any other ideas like this i should consider? And for the run... how big do i need the run to be. I have plenty of room for a run, just not a butt load of money. How expensive is chicken wire? Thanks for all the help!

- 15 chickens
- We had a bigger space, probably 10x10 growing up. We had around 15 chickens. We had, I think 4 nesting boxes and a roost that about 8-10 chickens could be on. Also we would just sprinkle 'chicken scratch' on the ground of their roost. We would get 5-10 eggs a day if I remember correctly.
- i'd say you can fit about 12 hens in there. and your friends idea with the dirt box under the roost is a good idea and i'd do that too if i was you. for the roost, I just cut down a little tree (2" diameter) and nailed each end to the walls on the inside of my coop and they really like that. About the wire, the more you buy teh cheaper it will be per foot. You can get a roll at home depot or lowes
