Chicken questions :D?
We are looking into getting my dad 2 chickens for his birthday, but what do we need? What do they eat except chicken feed? Is this a good cage? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Hen-Chicken-Poultry-Coop-House-Run-great-quality-CC047_W0QQitemZ290311876698QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Pet_Supplies_Poultry?hash=item290311876698&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1686|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1308 and any tips and any dos and donts please.. - if you live in a house with a quite spacious backyard, i suggest you getta bigger cage because no one/animal likes to be confined in small spaces unless they feel insecure. and if you dont wanna breed them, dont put two of the different genders..
- Think you will need to buy a chicken coop and what they eat varys with the type of chicken you are getting, but if ur dad was brought up on them won't he know what they eat ect?.

Just remember...safety, space, cleanliness, access. Safety - Foxes are not the only predators to look out for! Space - Don't be cruel, give them enough space, especially in the run Cleanliness - Your Dad's going to have to clean it so make it suitable for this Access - to clean and to collect eggs /put chickens in and out etc In terms of general things....check out these sites...if in doubt, seek professional advice (vets/smallholders are good for working knowledge) A great source of info - http://www.chickenfeed.co.uk/Chicken_Care.htm http://www.longdownfarm.co.uk/pdfuploads/2.pdf
- It's not that complicated you just need a big back yard that, well if you own the whole property you don't really have to worry about a fence. My chickens learner that going in their coop at night is the safest idea. We usually give them most of our left overs. Try not to have more than one rooster. Here is a great wonderful site that i get most of my information from. http://jackshenhouse.com/ Hope that thiss helps, ~~Natalie
- thats oly a house for them, they will ave to be let free where they want to go ad aloud in house whenever they want but close it at night so no foxes can come near.you shold fece of a bit
