2. 1. Always build your coop a few inches off the ground, on a concrete foundation. 2. Design the coop so that the door opens inwards. Good ventilation keeps the coop fresh while insulated walls keep the chickens dry. 3. If you're raising chickens for eggs, install an electrical light source to keep them warm. It works all year round.
