chicken thigh crockpot recipe?

hello, i want to cook about 6 skinless chicken thighs (2.2 lbs) in my crockpot. i have an onion, carrots, potatoes, red bell pepper, & celery. i'm wanting to use broth bc i'm tired of the cream soup stuff. **disclaimer - i know nothing about cooking so pardon my dumb questions** questions: 1. should i brown the thighs 1st? if so, how long on each side 2. chicken on top of the veggies or under? 3. how much broth should i use? i'm not trying to make a soup 4. how long for a low setting and how long for a high setting? fyi, i have the Rival 6-Quart Oval Countdown SmartPot Stainless Steel Slow Cooker

  1. I like to brown chicken before putting it in the crockpot because it 1) looks nicer and 2) browning gives it a better flavor. Just brown enough to give it a bit of color, you don't want to cook the chicken all the way thru. Chicken on the bottom, sprinkle with about 1/2 package of french onion dry soup mix, 1/2 cup water, add your veggies in on top.Salt and pepper the veggies. Check after an hour, add more water if it looks a bit dry.Cook on low for about 4-5 hrs or high for about 3.
