Chook Me!

Needing information on geckos as a pet?

How do you take care of the little geckos if they breed, do you need a incubator? Can you put any other reptile with a gecko? e.g. a monitor? Other then crickets and spiders what do they eat? Any information on anything to do with Marble Geckos would be great.

  1. There is really good information on PetCo.com and petsmart.com
  2. 1st question: It depends on the species of gecko but most will require some kind of incubator (but you can make home made ones using a poly box a heat mat and a thermostat) 2nd Question: mixing is a hot topic and the general answer is no, aggression, stress, competition, habitat issues and pathogen transfer issues (especially in species from different geological ranges) are all common and sometimes fatal when mixing species and i wouldn't recommend mixing I dont keep marble geckos and dont know a huge amount about the species but i would recommend you get yourself signed up to a good forum like http://www.geckosunlimited.com were u can speak to keepers and get good hands on advice 3rd Question: crickets, locust, flies, roaches (such as lobster or dubia) and phoenix worms are all good staples waxworms, and for larger species morios can be fed as a treat but shouldnt be fed more than once a week if at all.
  3. you can make an incubator using a Tupperware dish and poking holes in it fill it with soft substrate and put it in a larger Tupperware container filled about i inch deep with sand and put a heating pad underneath and i would not try putting any type of geckos in with monitors they mite fight and kill each other you can also feed geckos meal worms and occasionally wax worms
  4. this website basically has everything you need to know . http://www.leopardgeckocare.net/ good luck(:
