Chook Me!

Can I throw chicken wings straight on the bbq?

we're having a great aussie backyard BBQ tomorrow night to kick start the easter weekend, cooking the usual sausages and steak but thought i'd have chicken for a change too. Anyway i 've got some chicken wings marinating in honey soy and garlic- and will leave them over night- was just wondering if they are then okay to just throw straight on the BBQ to cook or should i wrap them in foil or something? How long should i cook them for and do i need to turn them frequently?

  1. You can add the wing straight onto the BBQ, just make sure the grill is hot, very hot. Also oil the grill before putting the wings on so they don't stick. Enjoy!
  2. yes you can, they do not take long, and turn only once. if you want to make sure they get done, you can wrap them in foil, cook for 15 min. then take out of foil, 10 mins. on each side. Good luck, happy easter.
  3. Yes, they can go straight onto the barby... LOL! (Sorry, couldn't resist that). If you don't wrap them, then you only want to give them about 5 minutes per side... If you wrap them in foil, then about 10 minutes per side... Regardless of your cooking method, stick a meat thermometer into the thickest piece of the wing and check for 160 degrees... You hit that (or higher), and you're good... Hope this helps!
  4. you bet you can! grill your wings 7 to 8 minutes each side, turning only once if you have a covered grill like a weber kettle. if your tight for grill space put them in a 450 degree oven for 15 minutes and finish on the grill for that added grill flavor. I do wings in my smoker for 2 hours at 250 and they come out fantastic. i have also used the oven to grill method for great results also. Id keep them in a heavy pot or even a crock pot set on low to keep them warm for your guests. good luck!
  5. Yeah yeah.. Sound yummy.. cook about 10-15 minutes! just in case.
