How long can chicken be kept in the refrigerator before it goes bad?

Does it matter how the chicken was cooked? So how many days can I keep chicken in the refrigerator before it goes bad? Does the same apply for chicken liver, or chicken heart? This is for my cat, I'm a vegetarian so I never eat the stuff, if it matters. This applies only to already cooked/left-over chicken.

1. 3-5 days is all I would leave it. By that time I believe your nose will tell you to dump it.
