What's the difference between chicken-fried and steak-fried?

I have a friend from the souther united states and she always talks about chicken-fried steak and steak-friend chicken (but she also explained that there is chicken-fried chicken) I was just wondering what the difference was between these things? I googled it and they also talked about country-fried which i believe is the same as chicken-fried but with seasonings...maybe I think she also said you could chicken-fry lots of other things but I don't know if you can steak-fry lots of other things?

  1. It basically refers to battering a steak and frying it like you would fried chicken. I don't think there is anything like steak-fried chicken. And chicken-fried chicken seems redundant.
  2. Yee Haw! Fried is fried is fried!!!
  3. "Steak" fried and "country" fried are the same thing as "chicken" fried. There's no big mystery there. The correct term is "chicken-fried" "whatever", because chicken was the original fried meat. Then people figured out that they could batter a steak or any other kind of meat and fry it the same way, and it tasted just as good as fried chicken. Basically the prep for all meats is the same, Dredge the meat in seasoned flour, dip it in egg wash, and back in the seasoned flour. Let it sit for a little while before its cooked, that will help the batter stick to the meat.
