Chook Me!

What can I use as a disinfectant for a CO2-incubator water bath?

At in internship I had in the past they used something that seemed relatively cheap, but I can't recall what it was.

  1. We always used to use virkon to wipe out the incubators. Make very sure that you don't spill any into the cells though! Keep wiping them out every two days or so, and throw any dishes out when they start showing signs of infection. Bacterial infection results in cloudy medium often with a colour change, and funga infection is best looked for under a microscope. It looks like lots of long thin lines, by the time the fungus is visible it might be too late! If you don't use virkon in the lab use whatever you use to kill off any contaminants in the work stations / whatever you dump your used medium into.
