Chook Me!

Wha13 month old...am i feeding him alright?t would you like to ask?

13 month old...am i feeding him alright? he has 2 8 oz bottles of whole milk a day, the rest is water. breakfast is usually a dry eggo waffle, pancakes, oatmeal, or eggs. snacks are throughout the day, graham crackers, wheat saltines, cheese, fruit, or cheerios lunch is usually fruit, grilled cheese, quesadilla, dry toast, or turkey dogs dinner is whatever we are eating, homemade pot pie, pot roast, chicken (he only likes it dipped in ketchup), spaghetti, etc. the problem is, he is still too young to do the whole "if you dont eat veggies you dont eat at all" type thing....he refuses veggies and loves (wheat) breads and cheeses. the only way he will eat veggies is if i hide them in a casserole or canned cream of chicken soup. is this bad? i have tried everything and i just feel he has an unbalanced diet...what do you think?

  1. minus the bottles(kids should be totally off the bottle by 12 months so as not to cause dental issues when teeth grow in), i think your doing great! he'll get is veggies when he's older and honestly, how many veggies does the typical american eat? like NONE! he'll be just fine until he get old enough for you to make sure he eats them all.
  2. I have a 14 month old, and that seems about right. I just make sure he gets his food groups. He loves grilled turkey and cheese sandwiches, pb&j, eggs, chicken, etc. I think he drinks a bit more milk than that though, but I am not sure of the exact recommendations. Have you tried offering sweet corn to your son? Mine loves corn, green beans, cooked carrots, and green beans. If your son won't have any of that, I'm sure it's fine to continue "hiding" them when you can. He should be just fine. Take care!
  3. My son likes to refuse veggies too. I mash them up and blend them in with other foods like cauliflower with mashed potatoes. He loves mac and cheese...and yams are the same color. I have the Gerber Smart Sips that I give him with either lunch or his snacks. It's a nutrient drink for toddlers. You could also try vegetable juices.
