Whats the best way to keep something warm?

Whats the best way to keep something like an egg warm. Without using an incubator? Like, what material, wool, cotton? & what would keep the heat in, wood or plastic? Any other ways i could try to hatch an egg without using an incubator? Any advice, let me know here. Thanks. Best answer will be chosen in 15 mins (:

1. use a good insulator,the natural fibre you said are very good,pack them really tightly into layers,you want as little air in as possible,place in a black plastic box. keep it dry and out of the wind. hope your egg survives,good luck
2. Wrapped in cotton wool or fleece and an outer covering of foil. Keep it in a container in the airing cupboard, or near (not too near) the hot water tank Turn it every so often like the birds do. they do it so the egg is heated evenly. A warmish hot water bottle, not hot or you will have a boiled egg. Just body heat. Aim at bird heat! Good luck
